Hazel Rittweger Obituary

Hazel Ann Rittweger (nee Corbin) of Myrtle Beach passed away at NHC Garden City on Monday, November 2, 2020 after a decade long battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was born in Barbados, West Indies on February 16, 1949.  She married Emmett Eaddy Sr. in 1967 and moved to the United States, where she became a citizen in 1979.  She is survived by 7 of her 10 siblings: Coral Kelly (Barbados, WI), Martin Stanford (Lindsay, ON, Canada), Virginia Kilburn (Barbados, WI), Clement Corbin  (Auckland, New Zealand), Louis Corbin (Ajax, ON, Canada), Carl Corbin (Elliot Lake, ON, Canada) and Kenneth Corbin (Auckland, New Zealand).  She was predeceased by her three sisters: Joyce Leandro, Rosemary Corbin and Ann Cohen.  She is also survived by her two children: Emmett Eaddy, Jr of Myrtle Beach, SC, and   Lee Ann Buie and her husband Jay Buie of Myrtle Beach, SC.  She had 3 Grandchildren, Abby Eaddy, Christopher Wilson (predeceased) and JJ Buie. One great grandchild Sawyer Eaddy.  Beloved Aunt of 12 nieces and nephews.

Hazel called Myrtle Beach home since 1975. She was active with friends on the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, with many activities including the bowling league and Bunco. She went to work in 1983 for Green’s Discount Beverages where she worked for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2012.  She loved to play Bingo with her best friend of over 40 years, June Bienlich.  Her sister Ann lived next door for about 30 years before moving in with Hazel to take care of her as the Alzheimer’s advanced.

Thankfully, she was able to remain home in the care of her sister until May 2020.  She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Services and celebration of life for her and her sister will be held on November 21, 2020 at Surfside United Methodist Church at 2pm.
