Gregory Davis Obituary

On Monday, April 4th, Gregory John Davis passed from this world into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while surrounded by his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife, April Spencer Davis of Myrtle Beach, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Spencer and Rebecca Davis of Zionsville, PA; son, Jeremy Davis, and his partner, Nicole Shadan of Manchester, NH; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Sue Davis of Macungie, PA; grandsons, Taylor, Jacob, Parker, Weston, and Elijah; granddaughters, Sa’Veah, Sofia, and Julie; and a bunch of extended family, in-laws, and some outlaws (as he called them).

Greg was born to Osborne and Gertrude Davis on May 10th, 1951 in East Orange, NJ and lived most of his childhood in Mount Tabor and Parsippany, NJ. He graduated from Morris Knolls High School in 1969 and completed his bachelor’s degree in business at Lycoming College in 1974. Greg was married to April on July 26th, 1975 in East Canton, PA, and worked at the former Schaefer/Stroh/Pabst Brewery in Fogelsville, PA for most of his career.

Greg had many joys and passions in his life. He loved his wife and enjoyed traveling with her to tropical destinations. Greg loved his sons and was always Spencer’s and Jeremy’s biggest fan while coaching or attending their sport events. He carried that love into his relationship with his grandchildren and was a regular at their sporting events as well. He served his church faithfully for over 40 years as an usher, grounds caretaker, and in many other ways when asked to help. Greg came alive at the beach…he was a self-proclaimed “salty dawg,” and his trademark stance, standing ankle deep while gazing out at the ocean horizon, will be missed, but will live on through his sons and grandsons.

Greg was also an avid car enthusiast/street rodder and enjoyed many car shows with his 1940 Ford Sedan at Macungie Memorial Park and across the east coast. He was a lifelong New York Giants and Islanders fan and enjoyed watching many sports and auto racing.

Throughout his life, Greg had a way of making everyone around him feel important, valued, loved, and welcomed. He was known for his smile, his humor and funny facial expressions, and his love for his wife and sons. He loved his family well over his years and will be dearly missed by all.

A celebration of life service will be held on May 28th, 2022 at 3pm at Macungie Memorial Park. At the request of “Chevyhead” aka Greggor, all family and friends are invited, and also encouraged to attend with their street rod, muscle car, motorcycles, or other street legal motorized toys to honor his love for cool rides. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmaus High School lacrosse team (checks payable to Emmaus Lacrosse), where his son Jeremy was a 4-year starter, or Emmaus High School baseball (Venmo @emmausHSbaseball), where his grandson Taylor plays.

Mr. Davis is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director & Lewis Crematory and Funeral Services, Myrtle Beach, SC
