Blake Austin Cannon, 21, of Myrtle Beach South Carolina passed away at Grand Strand Hospital on November 25, 2023, from an illness surrounded by family.
Blake was born on February 25, 2002, in Florence, South Carolina to Candice Bryant LaFond. He was born 2lbs 2oz and came into this world a fighter. Blake had a kind soul and was a great friend. He loved his family and enjoyed being with family he was a good brother and cousin, a loving grandson, and an even more loving son. Blake touched many hearts and made lots of friends. Blake enjoyed playing baseball, and basketball and spending weekends at the racetracks watching his Papa Dan and Cousin Blaise race. He just enjoyed being around people and liked to laugh. Blake is going to be greatly missed and he will forever be carried in our hearts.
Blake is survived by his mother Candice Bryant LaFond, stepfather Joey LaFond, brother Tre Cannon, grandmother Lea Nea Bryant, cousins Blaise Bryant, Korbyn Bryant, Kinleigh Bryant, Kayla Bryant, and Kylie Bryant. Blake was predeceased by his grandfather Dan Bryant.
Blake was a hero to our family, the Alewine family along with our community on the night of April 12, 2018. A devastating multi-unit fire broke out in our complex causing multiple families trapped on their 3rd floor patios with the only choice being to jump. The Alewine's were left with no choice but to drop their 3 yr. old son Cade to a stranger telling them I'll catch your baby. The stranger was Blake. Blake received honorable awards from our County and State for his selfless actions that night. He will forever be in the hearts of Krisha, Brian, Cade, and Jace Alewine.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date and will keep the website updated with info as soon as we have it.
Mr. Cannon is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director, and Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services of Myrtle Beach, SC.
