Betty Jo Alford, 95 years old, received her new body as she entered into her heavenly home on Thanksgiving Day 11/23/2023. She was surrounded by her family at home.
Betty Jo was married to R. A. Alford Jr. in 1946. She was predeceased by her husband, R.A., a daughter, Peggy A Williams, a son-in-law, Johnny L Williams, and two sisters Pauline Tindall and Gennie Sue Booth. A devout Christian, Mrs. Alford raised her 3 children in the Church. She was baptized at the age of 24 and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church for the past 71 years. She served as Treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and Vacation Bible School director, in the Woman’s Missionary Union, and on various committees on several occasions. Mrs. Alford often carried neighbors to appointments, cooked for the needy, and assisted wherever she was needed. She was very involved with the Daylily Redhat group.
She leaves behind, her son Randy L Alford who is married to Dr. Siena Alford of Conway, a caring daughter, Brenda J Jenerette who is married to Jack Jenerette of Aynor, along with 5 grandchildren, Ryan A . Alford of Chengdu, China, Matthew R Alford of Charleston, Bradley C Alford, of the University of SC, Anita W Huggins (Terrill) of Charleston, and Alicia A. Anderson (Andy) of Myrtle Beach. She also leaves behind 4 great-grandchildren Jenna, Ashyr, Emerson, and Levi along with a multitude of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Beverly James who the family with her care during the past few years.

A Private Graveside service By Lewis Funeral Home of Myrtle Beach will be held according to the family’s wishes at 2804 Methodist Rehobeth Road, Galivants Ferry, SC 29544.
