Donald Douglas, 60, passed away on August 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by family and his beloved canine companion, Cain, by his side.
He was born in Hemingway, the youngest son of the late John Angus Ray Douglas and Shelby Jean Rowe Douglas. He was a 1977 graduate of Pleasant Hill High where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He attended the University of South Carolina and was a die-hard Gamecock fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Douglas of Macon, GA; sisters, Renee Lawrimore of Manning and Shelby (Don) Trento of Naples, FL; brother, John (Noriene) Douglas of Mt. Pleasant, nieces, Faith (JP) Truesdale of Johnsonville and Erin Douglas of New York, NY; special caregiving aunts and uncles, Joyce and Floyd Tyler of Isle of Palms and Patsy and Rubeth Earl Williams of Hemingway; great-nephew, Jake Truesdale; great-nieces, Lucy and AnnElise Truesdale; along with other aunts, uncles and a host of loving cousins.
For those that knew the “Duckman” you know he did things his way! He never met a stranger, could charm ladies of all ages, captivate any living animal that crossed his path, and quote the book of Proverbs.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Center Baptist Church, Hemingway, SC 29554. The family will receive guests on Saturday from 3pm-4pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, Donald requested donations be made to St. Frances Animal Center, 125 N Ridge Street, Georgetown, SC 29440. www.sfanimals.org
