Annika Jacinta Downer Backle, 39, passed away 30 November 2019 near Little River, SC after tragically being struck by a car. She was born on 14 September, 1980 in Brooklyn, NY to Bernadette Mitchell. Annika was beloved by many and will be remembered for her kind and compassionate spirit. She was a lover of all animals, especially her dog, Sue, who deeply misses her. Annika felt most at home near the ocean and would escape to it with her husband as often as possible. She had a zest for life and a true love for the Lord. She believed in the after-life and that she would be reunited with those she loved. Annika married her husband, Scott R. Backle, 7 September 2013, and with that union, she gained three step children; Alexandra, Maximilian and Victoria Backle. Her friends and family remember her as joyful, soft-spoken, beautiful, fun and giving. She will be very missed.

Annika is survived by her husband, Scott Backle, her mother, Bernadette Mitchell, brother, Derek Mitchell, and step children, Alexandra, Maximilian and Victoria.

Mrs. Downer is entrusted to the care of Lewis Crematory and Funeral Services, Myrtle Beach, SC.
